Product Tour

WPReviewEngine is a WordPress plugin designed to make it easy to create powerful review sites quickly.

Easy To Use

WPReviewEngine is extremely easy-to-use. All aspects of your review site can be controlled from the WordPress administration area. If you can use WordPress, you can use WPReviewEngine. The plugin also comes with detailed documentation and a getting started guide.

Add Star Ratings To Comments

Your website visitors will be able to include star ratings with their posted comments.

When posting a comment, your users will be shown an AJAX star rating form with the rating categories you specify. You can specify different rating sections for each post, or each category. For example, one post could have ratings provided for the rating categories Overall, Price, and Tech Support, and another could have the categories Overall, Features, and Speed.

Build High-Converting Affiliate Review Landing Pages

Review products as an affiliate and earn a commission on all sales you refer. WPReviewEngine includes a tried and tested theme for building affiliate review landing pages, showcased on the Top Web Hosts demo site. You can even cloak your affiliate links from within WPReviewEngine.

Compatible With Any Theme

You can enable WPReviewEngine in any theme in seconds. From the WPReviewEngine settings page, you can choose to automatically embed star ratings, custom fields, and thumbnail images into any theme. You can also automatically embed star ratings in posted comments, and embed the AJAX star rater in the comment form.

Comment Custom Fields

Add additional fields to your comment form. For example, you could add a Pros and Cons text box. You can specify these on a per post or per category level. One post can have Pros and Cons fields, another post can have Dosage Strength and Frequency Used fields.

Customize Colors And Styling of Elements Right From The Admin Area

If you are using a custom theme, you can still customize the look and feel of WPReviewEngine right from the administration area. Words will not do this feature justice, so take a look at the screenshots below. You can control the text and background colors, border styling, alignment, etc. for every single element, right from the admin area. Anything WPReviewEngine embeds is something you can control.

Thumbshots.com Post Icons

Are you sick of wasting time creating screenshots of sites you are reviewing? With the Thumbshots Post Icons feature, just enter in the URL of the site you would like a thumbnail image of – and an auto-generated thumbnail will be used.

Zip Code Radius Search – Great for Local Directories

The zip code radius search feature makes WPReviewEngine is a great tool for building local business directories. Any business listing on your site with a zip code can be searched with the zip code radius search feature. In the search box, your visitors will be able to enter a zip code and then view businesses that are within a specified radius of that zip code.

Integration With Google Maps

If you are running a local directory, by specifying the address of the business you are reviewing, you can display a Google Maps map with an aerial view of the business. You can set the width, height, location, and zoom level of the maps from the WordPress admin area.

Star, Button, and Comparison Table Image Sets

13 star images, 23 buttons, and 6 comparison table image sets are included, and you can easily add more.

Support For Thumbnail Images & Affiliate Link URLs

For each post, you can optionally specify specify a post thumbnail and an affiliate link URL. If you do, WPReviewEngine will display the post thumbnail and a Visit Site link.

This feature is compatible with any WordPress theme.

Comparison Tables In Any Theme

Custom fields show their full power when used in conjunction with the comparison table. These can be embedded in any theme, without the need to modify the theme code. Comparison tables can be displayed on your homepage and category pages. The administrator has full control over the comparison table, including what fields are displayed and the order in which they appear. The comparison table can optionally display the WordPress category the post is in. Comparison tables can also be embedded in any WordPress page. You can display multiple rating categories in a comparison table, and specify the custom fields and rating categories displayed for each category of your site. You can optionally hide the Visit Site and/or Review links.

Add Custom Data To posts

WPReviewEngine supports adding custom fields to posts. For example, if you were running a site reviewing digital cameras, you could have custom fields such as Megapixels, Screen Size, Weight, Battery Life, Price, etc.

Language Settings

Easily translate 100% of the text displayed by WPReviewEngine from within the admin area. From simple changes like “Click the stars to rate” to “Rate This Item” to translating the whole plugin into a foreign language.

Editor Ratings

You, the site administrator, have full control over the ratings of your content. If you would prefer not to use the user rating, you can set an editor’s rating for every item on your website.

Only Active Where You Want It To Be

You can enable/disable WPReviewEngine on a per post or per category level, so WPReviewEngine only shows up on your website where you want it to. You can even specify different rating criterion and custom fields on a per post or per category level, so you could have a website reviewing consumer electronics with a section for both digital cameras and another for notebook computers.

Support For Pages As Well As Posts

WPReviewEngine will work on both WordPress Pages and Posts. You can even have Pages display in the Comparison Tables and Top Rated/Recent Reviews widgets.

Auto Generation of Comments

You can instantly generate hundreds of user comments to instantly make your site look more trustworthy. You have full control over the comments generated. A screenshot of the comment generation wizard is below.

Import Data From CSV Files

You can import ANY content database to WordPress. Need to import a SQL database? phpMyAdmin can export to CSV. Excel? Save it as a CSV.

You can map fields in the CSV files to WordPress and WPReviewEngine fields. For example, if your CSV has an ‘address’ field, you can map it to the WPReviewEngine ‘maps-address’ field so you can display a Google Maps map for all the items you import. If your CSV has a ‘Price’ field, you can map it to a WPReviewEngine custom field, and then have the price displayed in comparison tables.

Imagine a CSV file containing information on many different colored widgets. You could map the ‘color’ field to be set as the WordPress category of imported items, so all of your red widgets show up in the category called ‘Red’, all of your blue widgets show up in the category called ‘Blue’, etc.

You can also map fields in the CSV file to be your post icon and outbound link URL. For example, you could import a database of all ClickBank products to WPReviewEngine, and set the ‘hoplink’ field to be your outbound link URL.

This feature does not have to be used in conjunction with WPReviewEngine. By itself, it can be used to quickly create massive, 10,000+ page content sites from content databases. Just buy cheap content databases with lots of records, and import them with WPReviewEngine.

Fully SEO-Friendly

WordPress natively supports SEO-friendly URLs. Using WordPress for a review site is a great idea, because search engines apparently love anything they think is a blog. Also, WordPress auto-generates RSS feeds, so you can get instant backlinks by submitting your feeds to RSS directories. WPReviewEngine is also compatible with the All in One SEO Pack plugin for WordPress, which does a load of things for SEO. Install the All in One SEO Pack, submit your RSS feed to RSS directories, do some social bookmarking, and build some backlinks, and you could be seeing significant search engine traffic to your review site. Getting free traffic when everyone else is paying $0.75/click is awesome.

Show Top Rated Posts First

You can control the order of the posts on your site. Your users probably want to see the top rated items first, or the items with the most comments. You can choose to order your posts by rating (lowest to highest or highest to lowest), number of comments (most to least or least to most), or the WordPress default.

WPReviewEngine optionally supports Bayesian weighted ratings – this way, you can ensure an item with two five star ratings (avg. of 5) does not outrank an item with 20 four star ratings and 20 five star ratings (avg. of 4.5).

Sidebar Widgets

Show the top rated posts and most recent comments in any theme using the included sidebar widgets. For the top list, you can specify how many entries to show, and from what category. For the recent comments list, you can choose the title of the menu (call it Recent Comments, Latest Reviews, whatever you like) and the number of recent comments to display (up to 15).

Here is what the widgets look like in the ‘reviewclassicblue’ theme.

Fully Customizable Look & Feel

Do you want to have down-to-the-pixel control over the positioning of all WPReviewEngine elements? You can use the WPReviewEngine API to have complete control over the positioning of the ratings, custom fields, visit site link, post thumbnail images, etc. in ANY theme.

For an example of the API in action, have your programmer look at the ‘reviewclassicblue’ theme. The code is laid out nicely, and code used for the display of WPReviewEngine elements is commented. If your programmer has any trouble, send them to the support page so they can get my contact details. I would be happy to help them.

Alternatively, I am available for development work directly. I developed this plugin, so I have more experience with it than anyone else.

Tracking Friendly

Setup Google Analytics and Tracking202 so you know where your earnings are coming from. To get Google Analytics working all you have to do is paste your Google Analytics code into WordPress, and as far as Prosper202 goes just set your affiliate link URL for each post to your Tracking202 tracking URL. If you need any help setting up these up, or getting any other third party tracking systems up and running with a WPReviewEngine site, I am happy to help.
